About this piece

Turn kitchen scraps and garden waste into nutrient-rich compost with the Ms. Tumbles Compost Tumbler. Designed for easy home composting, this 35-gallon ball-style compost tumbler sits on a sturdy elevated stand and rotates to mix organic materials without the manual turning required by a traditional compost pile. A large access door makes loading and unloading easy, while the integrated leachate drain system allows you to collect nutrient-rich liquid for use around the garden.

Features & care
The Ms. Tumbles Compost Tumbler makes composting approachable for gardeners who want an easier alternative to manually mixing organic waste in a traditional compost bin. With a 130-liter / 35-gallon capacity and compact footprint, it's particularly well suited for small yards, patios, and home gardens.

Instead of digging into a compost pile with a garden fork, simply rotate the ball-style tumbler to mix the materials inside. Regular turning helps distribute kitchen scraps, garden waste, green materials, and brown materials while introducing the oxygen needed to support the composting process.

A larger access door provides plenty of room for adding food scraps, leaves, grass clippings, and other appropriate compostable materials. The generous opening also makes it easier to access and remove finished compost when it's ready for use in garden beds, raised beds, planters, and around landscape plants.

Ms. Tumbles also features a leachate collection system with a drain hose and control valve. The collected liquid should be drained regularly to prevent the composter from overflowing. For garden use, the leachate can be diluted at a ratio of approximately 10 parts water to 1 part leachate to create a liquid compost solution commonly referred to as compost tea.

Made from recycled plastic, the durable rotating barrel is supported by a sturdy stand that keeps the compost tumbler elevated for convenient access and turning. Its enclosed design also provides a cleaner, more contained approach to backyard composting than an open compost pile.

Whether you're learning how to compost, looking for a compost tumbler for a small yard, or simply want an easier way to turn kitchen and garden waste into useful compost, Ms. Tumbles provides a practical solution for everyday home composting.

Your questions, answered

What is a tumbling composter?

A tumbling composter is an enclosed composting container designed to rotate, making it easier to mix and aerate organic materials. Regular turning helps distribute moisture, oxygen, green materials, and brown materials throughout the compost.

How often should I turn Ms. Tumbles?

Rotating the compost tumbler a couple of times per week can help speed decomposition and encourage more even breakdown of the materials inside.

What can I put in the composter?

Ms. Tumbles can be used for appropriate compostable materials such as fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, grass clippings, leaves, and other suitable kitchen and garden waste. A balanced mixture of nitrogen-rich green materials and carbon-rich brown materials supports successful home composting.

Why aren't the materials in my composter breaking down?

A good balance of green and brown materials is important. Mixing these materials before adding them to the compost tumbler can help create a more balanced composting environment, while nitrogen-rich materials such as grass clippings and coffee grounds can help support decomposition.

Can I collect liquid from Ms. Tumbles?

Yes. The tight-fitting barrel allows leachate to collect, and an included drain hose with a shut-off valve makes it easier to remove the liquid. The collected liquid should be appropriately diluted before being used around outdoor plants.

Does a compost tumbler make composting easier?

For many gardeners, yes. Instead of manually turning a traditional compost pile with a garden fork, the rotating barrel makes mixing and aerating the composting materials much easier.

Can I compost pet or human waste?

Human and dog waste should not be added to a typical backyard composter because normal backyard composting temperatures may not become hot enough to reliably destroy disease-causing pathogens.
